For me, creating a work of art is like an endless journey with an unknown destination. I don't know where it will go, I follow what is needed, and that again and again. In essence, there is no end to it, except when the work of art has left my studio. As long as it is still there, I am on my way. You are welcome as a traveling companion on the projects I am currently on my way with.
AN EYE FOR AN EYE
In this new painting, I am going to depict how hatred destroys everything that lives within us and around us. The hatred will be visible throughout the painting in the form of cracks. There is a country road visible that I photographed in the area where I live. I am going to paint the Descent from the Cross right through this landscape. Everything is cracked, including the Descent from the Cross. There is one place that will not be cracked: a real tallit (a Jewish prayer shawl) that I am going to attach to the painting… at least, I have never done that before, so I think I can do it.
CHAGALL MOZES
Although I never saw it in real life, I fell in love with this mosaic by Marc Chagall. It can be admired in Vence in La cathédrale de la Nativité-de-Marie de Vence, a beautiful medieval church in the south of France. I started in 2019 with the idea that it would be finished in 2024... blessed are the ignorant.
