Marc Chagall has been a great source of inspiration for me since I was young. To 'learn from him', as it were, I decided to try to reproduce some of his works. This painting is an example of that. It is an oil painting based on his lithograph La Baie des Anges au Bouquet de Roses - 1967. A French lady is painted on that lithograph, which I have replaced by the bridal couple from Chagall's painting Le Village bleu - 1955-1959. Because I recognized my wife as the bride in it, I changed the bay of the lithograph (which I think represents Nice) by painting the Cunera Church of Rhenen in it. That is the church where my wife and I were married.

Every time we drive from Kesteren over the Rhine Bridge to Rhenen by car, I see this bunch of flowers hanging in the air above Rhenen in my mind's eye.

Chagall study no.1 is painted on a 100x120 cm canvas, framed and ready to hang upon arrival.The painting is signed on the front and a Certificate of Authenticity will be included.
